What is Neurological Physiotherapy?

Neurological physiotherapists have specific training in helping people with conditions that affect the brain, spine and nerves.

Neurological conditions that our team at VUNO Physiotherapy can help with include (but not limited to):

  • Stroke

  • Multiple Sclerosis

  • Cerebral Palsy

  • Dementia

  • Parkinson’s Disease

  • Epilepsy

  • Post-Polio Syndrome

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Many more…

What It Does

People with neurological conditions work with our physiotherapists to:

  • Reduce pain & stiffness
  • Improve muscle strength
  • Improve balance & coordination

This allows people to improve how they do activities such as:

  1. Walking confidently
  2. Mobilising on a wheelchair
  3. Standing up
  4. Transferring
  5. Participate in social activities
(eg. engage in family gatherings & personal hobbies)

How It Works

People’s level of independence and function is improved by implementing some or all of these interventions:

  1. Prescription of assistive equipment (including braces and walking aids)
  2. Personalised exercise program
  3. Practical education about the condition
  4. Manual Handling training for caregivers
  5. Manual Therapy (eg. massage, stretching and joint mobilisations)

Our Guarantee

Initial Physiotherapy Consultations are fully refundable (no questions asked).

If you feel that our physiotherapy team did not provide enough value or treatment direction, we will issue a full refund. People’s level of confidence and comfort while working with their physiotherapist is considered essential to rehabilitation.

For NDIS Participants

Most people with neurological conditions are eligible for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). This is a scheme that covers the costs associated with a disability.

Support from physiotherapists, occupational therapists and other allied health practitioners are considered reasonable and necessary by the NDIS. Thus, NDIS participants are usually funded for allied health supports depending on the condition.
